Ryan Ford
:: PGA Head Golf Professional
PGA Head Golf Professional Ryan Ford graduated Purdue University in 2001 with a degree in Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional, Tourism with an emphasis in Restaurants & Hotels. During Ryan's tenure at Purdue, he was on an athletic scholarship for golf and was a 5 year letter winner for the men's team.
Ryan has had a very sucessful playing career thus far at such a young age. He was the 2002 Moyer Open Champion, 2004 Florida Father-Son Champion, 2005 Indiana Taylor Made Assistants Champion, 2005 Club Car Player of the Year, 2006 Indiana PGA Team Champion with playing partner Chad Penman, and 2006 Club Car Player of the Year. As one can see, playing competitive golf is someting that Ryan has a passion for.

Ryan met his wife "Carrie Dougherty" at The Legends of Indiana in his first year at The Legends (2003). Carrie Dougherty is from Trafalgar, In and actually played high school golf at Franklin High School where her home course was "The Legends" - very ironic!! Carrie graduated Purdue University in 2003 where she was an academic All American Big Ten Diver. Ryan & Carrie were married in October of 2005, watch out for this fierce duo in couples golf!!

Ryan's father has been the PGA Head Golf Professional at Pleasant Run Golf Course in Indianapolis for 30 years and now is the Director of Golf at Pleasant Run & Sarah Shank. Ryan's mother, Bonnie Ford, is his father's right hand lady in the demanding operation, he couldn't do it without her help. Ryan's sister is on the Future's Tour (just under the LPGA). She graduated Indiana Univerisity in 2004 and was a member of the Women's Golf Team. She was the 2004 Big Ten Champion and holds the all time Big Ten scoring record for 72 holes; she was also the Female Athlete of the year for Indiana University in 2004. As one can see, Ryan comes from a background of golf unlike any other.

Scott Downing
:: Teaching Professional

Scott is starting his fourth year at the Legends and has had great success in growing our teaching programs during that time.  He takes great pride in helping his students and devotes much of his off season to pursuing the latest in teaching advances.  He has been working with video for over ten years and last season he purchased the JCVideo system, which is the most powerful and portable video system on the market.  This system provides his students with the latest in computer swing analysis and his students benefited greatly from being able to see their swing out on the range tee. Scott archives each students swing for future reference and even provides a video CD or video email of the lesson for the students review when they get home.  In December he attended the biennial PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit in Port St. Lucie Florida where he had the opportunity to discuss teaching philosophy and observe the teaching styles of many of the greatest teachers of our time.  After spending time in Orlando this winter and working with some of his old teaching friends at Walt Disney World he is gearing up to play in some Indiana Section PGA events this season.

Scott was introduced to the game of golf through his uncle and father in Pendleton Indiana where he grew up and played four years of varsity golf for the Arabians.  He won many state wide tournaments as a junior and high school player.  After high school he attended Tri-State University where he played varsity for two years and won four college events during that time.  In 1990, Scott attended the PGA Tour Qualifying School and that same season he started wintering in Orlando Florida where he played Florida mini-tours until 1999.  In 1997 Scott was offered a position at Walt Disney World Golf where he was exposed to every facet of the golf business.  While with Disney he was able to hone his teaching style while being exposed to some of the greatest adult and junior teaching and learning programs in the world.  He was also Logistics Coordinator for two PGA Tour events at Disney where he ran the National Car Rental Golf Classic.  Scott says moving his wife and son to Indiana was the smartest move he has ever made and that he will take the warm hearts of his fellow Hoosiers over the warm Florida sun any day.  It is easy to see that Scott loves what he doing and he is ready to help you reach your golfing goals.  Contact him today!
